Self-guided visits
Explore Kingfisher Barn Visitor Centre and the Stour Valley. Stop by the Visitor Centre to make the most of your visit.
Exploring on your own, with friends or family?
The reserve is easy to find your way around with marked trails and information boards throughout the site. Roam along easy-access paths amongst grassland, woodland and river habitats. Visitors can look out for wildlife – our friendly otters can be seen throughout the day along with the iconic and beautiful kingfishers.

If you’re less confident about finding your way, or just want some expert knowledge to add a little more to your visit, why not check out our events listings or enquire in the Visitor Centre, where our friendly staff and volunteers will be happy to help.
The Owl Trail
Follow our trail of stunning wooden, carved owls from the car park at Granby Road, all the way down to the river.

Bringing a group?
Take a look at our school group page. Even if you’re not with a school, come into the centre and ask for tips on how to get the best from the reserve when there are lots of you together.
For walking groups, or those who have more time, why not try the 7-mile loop trail that starts at Throop Mill. It takes you across the River Stour towards Parley then returns you via the Breacon Close end of our reserve.
